Dr Jasmina Frzina - Counselling Psychologist

Hello! – I am Jasmina. I am a Counselling Psychologist with 20 years’ experience working with people with a wide variety of struggles. Below I will try and write a little bit about my professional journey thus far.

I started my career as a Forensic Psychologist in 2001 working in a high-security male prison for 9 years. During this time, I conducted complex psychological assessments and wrote many progress and parole board reports. I spent many years facilitating on numerous offending behaviour programmes and supervised the Domestic Violence Programme (high and low intensity).

I found that I preferred to work directly with people than moving up the management structure and writing lengthy reports. This led me to complete a doctorate in Counselling Psychology in 2014 and specialise in psychological therapy with a broader focus – mental health and wellbeing. As my original post in psychology was so highly specialised, I felt that I wanted to ‘break away’ from this as much as possible and expand my knowledge base by working in the NHS settings and inpatient services within the private sector. Subsequently, as a Psychological Lead, I was once again tasked with setting up services, managing and, supervising teams which once again led me back to wanting to work directly with people and in a more personal capacity.

So, I began my private practice journey in 2017, on a part time basis at first, but feeling that I wanted to be part of a collective, working with a community focus and building something larger than I could achieve on my own. I joined forces with other similar-minded psychologists and formed Altogether Human CIC, our social enterprise.

At this moment in time defining what interests me the most to a single area or a way of working is challenging. I like working with individuals, couples and young people – on issues and worries ranging from anxiety, stress and depression to all types of trauma. Of particular interest is working with people experiencing existential angst or simply feeling ‘stuck’ in one way or another.

Please do get in touch if you would like to connect therapeutically or, if something on the website peaks your interests regarding training, supervision, or one of our community-based projects. Looking forward to hearing from you.
